EARLY LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT STANDARDS
At The Robins Nest, we are dedicated to nurturing a love of learning in every child by adhering to Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS). These standards provide a comprehensive framework outlining the essential knowledge and skills necessary for children from birth to kindergarten entry, as well as guidelines for their development through pre-kindergarten to grade 12. By focusing on these core competencies, we equip our students with the tools they need for future academic success and life beyond the classroom. Furthermore, the Standards Resource Guides detail developmentally appropriate teaching practices and highlight enriching learning experiences, serving as a valuable resource for early care and education providers in a variety of settings.
CURRICULUM
At The Robins Nest, we use Learning Beyond Paper (LBP), a digital early learning curriculum designated to make education engaging and interactive for young children. This program blends play-based and research-based activities that build communication, problem-solving, and social-emotional skills. LBP supports educators with ready to use lesson plans aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards, helping teachers create purposeful learning moments in every classroom. By using this curriculum, The Robins Nest ensures that each child receives developmentally appropriate experiences that prepare them to succeed in school and beyond.
STEP UP TO QUALITY
The Robins Nest is proud to be a Step Up to Quality (Gold Rated) center, recognizing our commitment to excellence in early childhood education. The Gold rating signifies that we go beyond Ohio's minimum licensing standards, maintaining high-quality practices that support better learning educators engaged in ongoing professional development, research based curriculum and assessment tools aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards, and strong family and community partnerships that enrich each child's experience.
Higher Quality Standards:
Our Gold Rating means The Robins Nest goes beyond Ohio's minimum licensing research-based practices that enhance children's learning and development.
Qualified Staff:
Administrators and teachers complete ongoing professional development (15 and 10 additional hours per year, respectively) to deliver the best educational support.
Advanced Learning and Development:
We implement a state-approved, research based curriculum aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards and use individual assessments to tailor learning experiences for each child.
Enhanced Ratios (for Centers):
Smaller group sizes and lower teacher-to-child ratios in 40% of classrooms ensure more personalized, one-one guidance and attention.
Strong Family & Community Partnerships:
We actively engage with families through referrals, follow-ups, and educational events that help parents stay involved in their child's growth journey.
